People are going to be attracted here by Your great reputation...

-- 1 Kings 8 (The Message)

Solomon is praying during the dedication of the temple built to be God's earthly dwelling. This is sandwiched in the midst of his words, which are filled with prayers for forgiveness and asking God to hear their words. Solomon notes, in light of all he is asking for, that people will come from far away lands to come and worship at this temple because of the great reputation, mighty hand, and awesomeness of God Himself. I like that. That ought to the reason we show up, don't you think? Regardless of who is speaking, what the songs are, who is there or not there...should we not be coming to worship at God's house because of His greatness and reputation? This verse was strong for me today, in good and bad ways. If my kids walk away with nothing else, may they always be drawn to church by the greatness of God and their fondness of who He is.

So, why do you come? Why do you come to church on Sunday and Wednesday? What draws you to whatever church you attend? What do you hope for? How about for your kids?
