The best hour of the week...
We are in the midst of staff planning for the upcoming year. Right now. PJohn just made this comment -- "our goal ought to be that people WANT to be here (the big Z) on Sundays. This ought to be the best hour of the week." What a great comment, what a great goal. My kids love church. They like to be here, they ask about coming, they enjoy Sundays and Wednesdays. How about your kids? Do they enjoy being here? Why? What about you -- is it a joy to come Sundays? Do you look forward to what happens? Or is it obligation -- guilt is a powerful motivator. What role does the "it is just what we do on Sundays" play in being around? Or do you look forward to Sundays and what happens? As a highly paid religious pro, my deepest desire is that there is anticipation of what God will do on Sundays -- here at church, in the lives of those coming, and preparing for those who are not here yet. As a dad, my deepest prayer is that the kids will always look forward to coming to church -- here, in college, and when they grow up and have kids of their own. It's my prayer for your kids, and for you, too.
