Creation Ethics...

I started new classes today; one is Christian Social Ethics. Lots of big words and concepts; something blew my mind. It talked about Christian ethics, and how we struggle at times when labeled as such to apply them to non-christian things and people. The author of the essay re-named them 'creation ethics', as what holds true for humanity is that God's design, morally and ethically speaking, is what really does work best for human interaction with one another and the created world. So what we adhere to as Christians in terms of ethical behavior really does seem to work best for all of creation...example driven home tonight at a meeting I attended. Met a gal tonight that has chosen to send her son to a Christian school even though she and her husband are professing atheists. She spoke about how her son will come home and say grace for dinner by himself, and that what he's learning about interacting with others and manners and behavior, as guided by creation ethics, are really very pleasing and nice to work with! Further, the foundations for ethical behavior and the things of faith (hope, love, kindness, mercy) he is learning are very appealing to them as parents. She has bought into the Jesus stuff without knowing it. The stuff God put into play for us as humans to use as guidelines for the best possible relationships works even for those who profess to not beleive in Him. Wild! Radical! Truth in motion! How about that...I love how He works sometimes -- waiting, using even the things we don't understand or even fear to show how truly in control He is.
