The sermon this week -- preparing for Jesus' return. Yikes. I know how to prepare for someone's return -- you clean the house, put things in order, maybe bake something nice, and get all amped up waiting. Then, when they show, it's party time! You laugh, eat, and enjoy. Giving thought this afternoon to preparing for Jesus to return -- I clean up my life (hopefully not waiting until an hour before on this one!), get my stuff in order (make sure others know WHY I'm cleaning and ordering), not sure what Jesus might like in a pastry, so I'll skip the baking part, and then get excited waiting. That is the tough one for me; I think with the uncertainty that surrounds the return, the fact that it can come like a thief in the night (when we don't expect it) AND with trumpets and horsemen and lightening and be pretty dang scary...while I'm sure excited to spend forever with the Man, that whole coming back part elicits equal amounts of wonder, excitement, and outright fear. Cool thing is, no matter how it goes down, I've put my eggs, faith wise, in Jesus' basket and am trusting Him to take care of the rest.
