Mark 1:15
The Mark series has officially started. I'm going to try to maintain a running commentary on the verses surrounding the texts preached on during the Sunday service. Did a little backtracking for this past Sunday...here is day one of what caught my attention.
V. 15 -- "The time has come," He said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news."
I love how Jesus opens, in the simply stated and direct words Mark uses -- The time has come. The kingdom indeed had come, and was much nearer than they even could have imagined. Access to a radically changed point of view, a new way to be human, was available to them. All that is required -- repent and believe. Admit that you've screwed up and believe that God was capable of righting the ship, that He was near. That carries with it some responsibility -- to live differently, and to believe that it is possible to live differently (which is where many of us drop the ball...more on that later!). The time has come...how will you 'believe' the good news today? Will it change you, the truth of God coming close, the kingdom open, and the ability to be different becasue of it?
