Live what you believe.
That is the sermon title for this week. I'm still not sure what the scripture is. Suffice to say it appears that we'll be starting Matthew AFTER Christmas. That is alright, though. We'll dive into that later on.
What does it mean to live what you believe? I think that is the goal of every sermon, every act of the church (ideally), and most certainly my deepest desire in service of Jesus to His church. What is said ought to challenge us to even more confidently live out what we believe. It is putting the words into actions, and seeing our lives change becasue of it. Putting on Christ, being made new in our perspective, these truths that are proclaimed need to be the things that reorient us as people and empower us to live lives like Jesus. Not being perfect, but valuing the things that Jesus values, loving like He did, and speaking truth when one of our brothers or sisters within the church is off track or out of bounds.
So think today -- what do you believe? How does it look to live it out? Do you live like the Messiah has come, that God Almighty has visited and offered you redemption? What do you have to do to live differently in order to live what you believe inside? How might that play out in your family, your witness to your children and loved ones. Not easy questions, but very, very valuable ones to ask!
