water, water, everywhere...

i drink water. lots of it. i keep a nalgene bottle, 32 oz., full and handy all day long; i usually drink 3-4 of them depending on what i'm doing and how thirsty i get. i really like water. a lot. there is nothing better after a long hot sweaty bike ride than cold water. after a run -- water. passing time in lecture at class -- water. can't think of much that i would choose before it. amazing that something so simple can be so satisfying. one of my favorite things is to see race footage on tv, and see people standing along the route of a given run handing out water, being a blessing to those who are competing. that is a pretty graphic visual with regard to who we are called to be in this world...

reading yesterday about Jesus, in john 8, speaking about water. that when we believe and our lives are changed, we become fountains of water flowing out into the world. believers, you and me, become sources of water for those who don't yet know the goodness of Jesus. we get to be the ones to offer a glass of cold water for those who are on a trek through the hot dry desert of life. because of Jesus' love in our lives, we get to be the vessels that deliver the one thing that will truly quench that deep down, soul thirst.

let yourselves be vessels today, give that water out freely...
