back @ bethel...

after a fun filled weekend home (hung w/ the fam, my parents came, my bro and his fam, we smoked ribs and ate ourselves silly) i'm back on campus. staying in the dorms this week, just like college. i had a flashback last week walking to a computer lab -- like i was a freshman all over again. i freaked out a bit for 30 seconds or so...crazy. anyway, the 4 hour trip to campus was interesting. why is ames to albert lea, mn the most boring drive in iowa? for real...only one good radio station i could get, not much to see (except mason city's truckstop exit)...so i listened to 'every breath you take -- the police's greatest hits'. i bought this in high school, my friend greg used to sing the songs in p.e. and math class until we laughed so hard i couldn't pay attention. fun how music brings back so many memories...i've got quite a few of my old high school fave albums now on the itunes...revisiting them blows my mind! really good stuff...anyway, i leave you this eve with a thought regarding formation -- the events of our past have shaped us in ways that i'm not even sure we can fully grasp. the minneapolis skyline brings back thoughts of family trips to the twins games when i was younger. the doors greatest hits reminds me of driving thru the fog home on new year's eve my junior year of high school. little things trigger memories in my head that are so amazing to revisit...and our kids will be the same. i'm so excited to see what memories my kids make, how they remember them, and what it'll be like for them to look back on them someday...

That part of the drive is really boring!! You need to get a hook-up in your car for your iPod. It's amazing how much better a drive goes when you can push a button and not have to worry about changing CD's!

I too am excited to see the memories Alexa makes. I'm hoping she has as many great times as I did growing up!
