For this reason...

Have your kids ever asked why they were born? What a question -- not in a 'what does my existence mean' way, but in an honest little kid way, truly curious about the reason they are here? How do we answer that? I love how kids can skip over the scary part of that in the situation and see into the heart of such matters...maybe that's why the kingdom of heaven is made for the little children. Because there is a reason that we are here.

What do we say? If my kids were to ask, the ultimate reason I think they were born is because God has a purpose for them -- they've got a special task that needs to be fulfilled here in their time. And because they make Him and us awfully happy -- the make our lives so much richer. And beyond that, I think humans were created to be glorifying to the Father and to enjoy Him. I read one time that the ultimate aim of man is to love God and enjoy Him forever...sounds pretty good to me!

I'm thinking about this after reading in John today -- Jesus is before Pilate, and when asked by Pilate if He was a king, Jesus answered "You are right in saying that I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born..." Now granted, He was Jesus and He had access to the masterplan. But at His age, to have a firm grasp on why He was there, to know His reason...that's awesome. I wish we could all be that clear...

To ponder -- What would you say we were born for? Big picture? What about our reason here and now? What about your kids? What do you sense about them? What do you hope for for them?
