- Deuteronomy 33:12
This is one of my favorite pictures from our summer trip to Colorado.
This was taken after a hike (rather strenuous, I might add) to a place called Bible Point; it overlooks the Y camp and the Estes Valley. Brady, Emy, and I headed up one afternoon while Kari and Kristyn went horseback riding. The trail was loose, rocky, and STEEP. I had Em in the Kelty Kid backpack, and when we got to the top, this was the scene upon taking the backpack off. The sweat was well worth the view; so was carrying my youngest to the top. There was no way she was going to make it there on her own; the terrain would not allow it. The only way was to rest between my shoulders, drink all my water, and cheerlead as we made our way up. It was one of our favorite hikes of the trip, and we have plans to make that same hike up next summer (hopefully with the whole family!).
The reading for today reminded me of this hike; God has carried me a lot of late...for reasons I cannot fully grasp or understand, I've needed to rest in the Kid carrier and let Him tote me around. That is way hard for me, but a necessity more than any of us realize or want to admit. And just like the Bible Point hike, once we get to where we are going, the view is spectacular. Maybe it would be best on occasion to ride along, drink all the water, and cheerlead.
Lord, may our children (and us!) rest secure in You as You shield us all day long.
