I read Job yesterday; I gotta say, I really enjoyed it. I was struck by the tone of Job -- in his questions and grumping at God, he makes some pretty stout demands. In fact, he gets real cheeky in various spots; the thing that came through was that in the midst of his frustration and angst, he is asking some very real questions with the expectation of answers. At the end of the book, God speaks; kind of like he allowed Job to blow it all out, and then God lets him have it. Job is super humbled and realizes the error of his ways; God makes His point, and Job gets his answer. The moral of the story for me was this -- we can speak to God however we want. We can even make accusations and demands and essentially put it to Him. Thing is, when we go to God expecting an answer, are we prepared for His response? Truly ready? Ready to hear the truth? Ready to be humbled? When we come to God with expectations, we better be ready for what He has in store...
