I am a big fan of the spiritual formation process. One thing that brought me to ministry and to Zion was the chance to do some spiritual formation stuff -- being part of the deepening and growing of faith in people's lives. Investing in relationships and pushing others to grow. Instructing and teaching youth (and maybe even adults) in spiritual disciplines like prayer, fasting, journalling, old school practices like centering prayers and such that open up new avenues in one's life for Jesus to enter in and transform us. Looking ahead, I can see openings for some of this to begin happening, and I am insanely thankful for the chance to have been a part of this process in the lives of our youth over the last 10 years. My question tonight is this: if you could taylor-make a spiritual formation process, or pick the kinds of things that would help you grow and push you in uncomfortable but beneficial ways, what would that look like? What sorts of things interest you in this area of the journey?

Just stumbled on your blog Brent. Really great stuff. A response to your call regarding spiritual formation. I don't think it can be a formula. We are all different and need different things. Most important for a minister like you is to give people vision (proverbs 29:18). You are a prophet announcing the Kingdom of God. If people can get a vision for that Kingdom, They will most likely be compelled to enact that Kingdom. Enacting requires practice. Enter the disciplines. The disciplines are the tool by which we apprehend the power of God already at work in our lives. -- Just some thoughts. Loving your blog. brian worthington
