Praying in solitude
PJohn talked about Jesus praying in solitude today, and how it is necesary for us to get away from others to pray effectively and with focus. Can I get an AMEN!?! I wish that my prayers during the corporate worship service were focused and honoring, but more often than not I find myself listening to the sounds my kids make, worrying about catching so and so before they leave for the day, or should I find myself in position to lead the prayers or speak out loud, I sure don't want to sound like a prayer-idiot. Ah, being human. On the other hand, my best prayers happen when I'm with the dog, walking the streets of the neighborhood. Or running on the trails. Or walking the front step of the stage at church. All alone. And moving. Seems like part of my connection with God in prayer has a lot to do with movement. I know when I'm connecting, when I'm not, and what factors in in both situations. Why do I not pursue this with the passion I chase other things with?
