BreeAnn said something intriguing to me this morning; she went to see a movie last night, that in her paraphrase, was all about making the most of the moment. The character had made a mess of his life, and was waiting for things to turn around. The commentary is that, frankly, we only have right now. (Cue Van Halen) What are we waiting for? Rewind to a conversation from yesterday; so often we are looking forward to the end of days and Jesus' return so He can establish His kingdom on earth, but miss the part about the fact that we are eternal people NOW when we put our trust in Him for salvation...right now...

Advent is about preparation and waiting; as humans, we play the waiting game well, and often stall on things we should do becasue we are waiting for the right time. There is a certain need to wait on occasion, but how often in life do we wait too long and then miss the opportunity we've been hoping and praying for? How many of us wait, thinking that we've got to get our lives right before we really start walking with Jesus? How many of us are holding on and waiting for Him to come and undo all the wrongs, and make everything fair and equal, and then miss the chance to bring a little peace on earth and advance the kingdom (already here, amoung and in us as believers)? How many of us wait to share the story of Jesus' gift with someone we care about, thinking the timing must be just right, and then miss out completely?

Every moment has potential to be the magic moment...What are you waiting for?

Now that's how the youth band should start the service!
