I may have written about this before, but here it is again. I've been going off-site to think and write the last 2 weeks; final papers are coming due and I seem to write better not at my desk. I usually end up at a coffee spot for the free wifi and tasty beverages. Last week it struck me yet again how each event of the day is woven into the tapestry of our lives. Last week I watched an older gentleman holding his infant grandaughter as she slept; he was totally oblivious to the crowd, lost in her little face. It made me want to run home and hold my babies. I am writing today sitting in the corner of a local shop, listening to conversations in the distance, wondering what brings each person in and what they are speaking about. A gentleman sits next to me, asking questions about what I'm doing; I try to be polite, but am not always the best at it when I get into write mode. And yet, he is now part of the tapestry of the day and ultimately my life. I love that each day builds on the other and that each experience adds a fleck of color to who we are. A song, a smell, a flavor, a conversation...all of it becomes part of our lives. And I love the way God brings new things to spice up the fabric. Simply amazing.
May your tapestry be given some color today, and do your best to add some color to the fabric of the lives of your children as well...
