As a daddy, I want my kids to look up to good people. So I watched the Barbara Walters/Miley Cyrus interview (If you live in a cave in the middle of nowhere, Miley is Hannah Montana of Disney Channel fame, hottest ticket to get in the world right now, obession of children everywhere) with Kristyn this morning via youtube. I know the songs, sing them when I'm alone so as not to be labelled a total geek, and laugh at the shows when we watch them at home. I had not really formed an opinion of Ms. Cyrus, other than she can sing and seems to have a good family life. And my kids are crazy about her, so I figured that this would be a good shot to get a bit more info about her...
Barb asked her about the other Disney starlets who have pretty much gone off the deep end, and if Miley thought she would be different, and if so, why. Her response floored me, coming from a 16 year old girl who's got the world by the tail -- She pointed to her family, who aren't afraid to be honest with her and to correct and challenge her when she's wrong, and to faith. She makes some right on comments about aspiring to live a faithful life and that she looks at what she does as an opportunity to be a light and show the way for her friends who have had their public struggles...
My opinion today -- after hearing this, talking it over with Kristyn and seeing her smile when Miley started talking about faith stuff -- Hannah Montana is alright with me! Maybe even getting close to Ipod worthy...maybe...

I guess if I can listen to the Goo Goo Dolls, I can't criticize you for listening to Hannah Montana ;)
I knew I liked her for some reason!
I get a good laugh at the show and really like her songs too!
