mary and martha
read this story from luke last night at bedtime...made me smile in light of church sunday morning and the rush and crush of life. i've always been the 'sister' who sits at Jesus' feet and puts off the other stuff in order to relax and take life in. in college, my friends labelled me 'type c', or laid back to the point where they were concerned with whether or not i'd get anything done. and my response was always that it will get done in time, and that life is meant to be lived. fast forward into the world of 3 kids, a job, studies, a church-launch thing, rally day stuff...where is 'type c' brent? i miss that guy...so i'm hoping to reclaim a bit of my laid-backedness. there are things to be done, and i'm hoping to be more efficient w/ my time in order that my super relaxed nature can return to the fore. i see this in our kids, too -- they really like to live, laugh, and enjoy. and i'm always trying to rush them around, keep them on task, get things done...maybe it's time to put down the (insert your task/list/chore/job here) and sit at their feet for a bit. in that, i believe Jesus can come to us and bless us in it...
