say it again...

brady wears a cross necklace. he loves it -- has worn it for quite a while now...hates to take it off. he's got a bad habit however...it finds it's way into his mouth. often. like every time i turn around. and each time i lovingly and gently remind him to take it out of his mouth, i don't want him to choke, etc. we must do this dance 12 times a day...and it gets frustrating. how hard can it be to remember that you shouldn't do this? it's common sense, it should be an easy thing embrace and implement...

reading this morning in a book by oswald chambers...the devo was all about his sort of thing. he called it 'slovenliness in our spiritual lives'...and how God will continue to bring us back to an area or practice that we don't do well, that we overlook, that we think is "good enough", but that simply doesn't cut it with regard to living our lives faithfully to what He has called us. hmmm...i'm convicted that my lack of focus in prayer, my haphazard reading of the scriptures, my wandering mind during worship are all like brady's necklace -- the bad habit that should be something i want to eliminate, but don't put the time/effort/energy into making it happen. these things that connect us with God shouldn't be that hard to remember, right?
