communion...
i started running a while ago...something i decided to try after hating it most of my life. found out i really like it...odd...anyway, i have been getting up this week at 6 to run a few days this week. this is valentine lake, on bethel's campus...
i usually use my ipod when i run -- the music negates a bit of the pain, via distraction. today the battery was drained, so i ran without. something kinda cool happened...i started out going slowly as i've overdone it a bit this week -- running in the morning, basketball after class...my legs are sore. so i did a slow, easy pace and just wanted to loosen up and get my mind ready for 8 hours of lecture. as i ran thru campus and then down the road adjacent, i felt pretty good. i started to pray for the day, my family, my dad (knee surgery, successful today!), and my classmates. and in the midst of all this, God showed up. it was a feeling like He was right there, going with me as i passed thru th
e neighborhoods and ended up here...
this little county park not far from campus with a picturesque lake. i watched the sun rise across the water as i ran, and then turned to head back to campus to eat and get ready for my day. the image of communion came to mind frequently as i made my way back to bethel -- God showed up, we spent time together, and my day was full of a peace i can't fully explain.
i love that communion -- a unique experience of God's presence -- came in the form of an early morning jog, totally unexpected. pretty cool where He shows up sometimes...
