life is good.
my friend doug gave us a copy of a book he just finished, that should be available soon, from the life is good company. i'm sure you've seen the stuff around -- smiley stick guy named jake, dog named rocket, doing a wide vareity of super cool fun stuff w/ catchy sayings below the drawings. the clothing is super good quality, color schemes are awesome, the kind of shirt that you have for years, gets more comfortable as time goes by, and you love it until it falls apart. the book is filled with the art from the shirts and the accompanying sayings. needless to say, i'm a life is good junkie. the thing i love about it is the simplicity and truth behind some of what they have to say about life. their motto -- do what you love, love what you do -- makes so much sense to me. how great would it be if we could do what we love, and really love what we do?
biblically speaking...read the following from ecclesiastes 5:18-20...
18 Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given him—for this is his lot. 19 Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work—this is a gift of God. 20 He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart.
how does this all work together? the chapter in ecclesiastes is about the meaningless of riches...maybe the point isn't to have a fat bank account, but to work each day and enjoy what you do and understand that God has gifted us with the day, the chance to enjoy it, and to say that life is good...
