isn't it funny how God works...

so it's friday night. our power went off around 4:45 p.m. as the second round of storms blew through, right in the middle of cooking supper. first thoughts -- ok, what's going on? probably ought to keep an eye on the weather a bit closer...second thought -- the tv is off. how can ed wilson tell me what's going on? third thought -- can't cook now. bummer. the hamburgers are done, the chicken hasn't begun. super bummer. fourth -- we'll call mid-american, wait a bit, and things will be normal. right?

now it's 9:19 p.m. and no power. kari's doing bible study using my dorky headlamp flashlight deal. battery radio on 106.3. i can't read anymore cuz the sun went down. and i've got limited battery on the laptop, so i'm hoping get this done before it cuts out. crazy!!! (by the way, a tree is on the power lines -- didn't break them, so i assume that puts our situation on the low end of the emergency spectrum considering the state of our city out west and south...God bless them all...)

so thinking of being busy and my post from monday. we got a night w/ no distractions -- no tv, not much to do cuz it was crazy weather outside, and what are my thoughts? WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?!?!? the power is off...no tv, no movies, no hot food...arrrghhhh!!!!!! the thing i talk about wanting early on in the week -- down time -- is forced upon me and i pace and look out the window waiting for the power line guys to fix the problem. how ironic, eh? i've been given a night off to relax, hang out, and go to sleep early, and i mentally rebel!!!

i love God's sense of humor...
