imagination...

reading an interview with the guy who wrote 'the message' bible -- well, translated it actually. this quote jumped out at me...

"imagination takes us beyond ourselves. there is not enough of that happening today. i wish the christian community would honor and commission the poets, musicians, writiers, filmakers, journalists, and other masters of imagination as much as it does its preachers and missionaries."

hmmmmm...............

what would that look like? i think it's kinda exciting...what if we commissioned and sponsored people to create great music, writing, art, and turned them loose on the world with the message of salvation in Jesus as the reason? i wonder if the evangelism would be easier or more effective? i think about how imaginative our kids are, and how i'm not -- it's hard to play pretend with them. give me some toys and we are good; to pretend is really difficult. why? what would our faith lives look like if we could awaken that imaginative kid inside and look at church thru those lenses? what if...
