Service Opps...

So while I figure out a separate page for this sort of deal, I'd like to post a few more ideas about ways you can do something as a family that will further the kingdom and give you a chance to talk with the kids about serving at the same time...also, I'm posting a few opportunities for you to go do something. None are as of yet scheduled, staffed events, but options for the busy family to plug in if you've got the time and inclination!

Breakfast Bake – I’ve got a stack of foil pans and a recipe to go with it…mix up and bake egg casseroles to be donated to the Salvation Army Feed the Homeless program! They drive a van around town a few days a week to feed those in need…bake a casserole, bring it to Zion, and I’ll get it into the right hands! Pick up a pan and recipe in my office on Sundays or Wednesdays…

Compassion International – a great way to make a huge difference world-wide…grab a packet, fill it out, and support a child in need somewhere in our world! New packets and info will be available soon…

Food for Africa packets -- assemble food packets on Saturday mornings to be shipped to Africa! All it costs you is time; packets are put together at Holmes Honda in Clive, starting around 10 a.m. and going until Noon. Necessary food items are packaged, sealed, and then sent overseas to help people in need half a world away...

Care kits -- a colorful sheet is available in my office that details how to assemble a care kit -- basic tolietries that are placed in a Ziploc and then donated to the Iowa Homeless Youth Services. The kits are given out to kids and adults on the streets.

Just a few ideas...I'll post more as things become available! Maybe this is a way to keep the Christmas thing alive -- get outside ourselves and DO something for someone else...
