Peace.

Week 2 of Advent; the theme (near as I can find?!?) is peace. Last week it was hope; the season of Advent being one of preparation and longing, the waiting for something greater. So this week it is peace.

Peace is something our world lacks, a lot. Notice as you drive around town; watch the people in other cars. Sometimes you'll see smiles; sometimes blank looks; often, you'll see a conversation via phone or text or in person that looks far less than peaceful (can texting be less than peaceful?). Head to the mall, C-store, anywhere really; guarantee you'll witness some less than peaceful folks. Even in my house, on a given evening, you'll not see the peace I'm hoping for streaming out the doors. Chances are, you'd think I was a raving lunatic based on the amount of peace exuding from my being. Don't you think peace is something worth pursuing -- world peace, certainly; how about we start with personal peace? Seeking a sense of inner calm and contentedness with the greatness of Jesus and the beautiful nature of this season would help the world go a long way in attaining a more peaceful existence.
