brady got a baseball glove and bat around easter. we took them outside easter afternoon and i hit him some grounders, per his request. being only 4, and know he's got a fair amount of his father's athletic ability in him, i wasn't sure what to expect. can you say amazed? the boy can pick it -- he moved his feet, came up w/ the ball as it hopped up on a bounce, and pretty much knocked down every ball that he could get to. immediately i called my brother and told him to hold a scholarship in 14 years time to play ball. i was pretty proud that afternoon; and since, i am seeing some baseball in my boy that leads me to believe that he could be a good little ball player.
we had kristyn play tee ball last year. she was excited, used the glove uncle andy got her a few years ago, and seemed like she was going to enjoy it. first game came, she got to hit the ball, exhibited her daddy's speed (or lack thereof) and had an ok time. she finished the season, and upon completion, announced that 'baseball is ok, but it's too much running. dancing in my thing.' and is it ever. she had a recital a few months ago, and she lights up on stage. she knows her stuff, she dances pretty well, and it truly is her thing. i can see lots of costumes, pink, and recitals in our future. that makes my heart super proud.
emy is fearless. she'll do anything big brother and sis do. she particularly likes the bikes right now...so daddy is hoping for a mountain bike chick? we'll see...
thinking about the post from tuesday regarding image...it is pretty neat to see wiring start to emerge in our kiddos. i think about the hopes and dreams i have for them, the things that i hope they'll be involved in, the areas we will encourage and push a bit, and then ponder what the article from relevant had to say. above what they are involved in, sports they play, or hobbies they take up, i really hope they find some things they love, that make them feel alive, opportunities that regardless of how 'good' they are, they'll pursue because they want to and it helps them figure out a little bit more about who God made them to be. my deepest desire and prayer for my kids is that they know Him and be able to embrace who He is shaping them to be...
