rhythm
i'm finding that rhythm plays a huge part of each day in my life...i got out on the dirt trails last week on my mountain bike for the first time this year, and was immediately reminded of the reason i love to ride a bike -- rhythm. when i forget to think about the stuff in my way, focus on a rhythm and just go...something amazing happens. you lose yourself and all the cares of the world for a bit.
the more i think about it, each of my days has a particular rhythm to it -- things that happen in time that set me up for what is to come. i also find that faith has a rhythm to it -- a pattern of sorts that enables connection to Jesus at different points. some days i'm much more open to that than others...the open days are days when the veil between heaven and earth are thin; some days i totally reject the rhythm and things get mucky. the things that compose the beat might be different -- i drift all over trying to find ways to connect, but the components of faith that compose that part of my rhythm have got to be there or the day doesn't seem to work right. i realize that this is a pretty abstract entry, but i'm wondering...do you all feel the same? is there a rhythm that flows through your day? what are the things that compose that? how does it affect you, and your family, when that rhythm is listened to? what about when you neglect it?
